Meet James Kell

James Kell - McLaren Junior Driver

James is an FIA Silver Graded British Racing Driver and Driver Coach who has quickly established himself as a serious contender in the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint and Endurance Cups with CSA Racing this year.

The 2026 McLaren GT3 Junior Driver has Arthur Rougier (F) as his team-mate in Sprint events with the pair joined by Simon Gachet (F) in the Endurance races at the wheel of the #111 McLaren 720S EVO.

He also competes with his father, Darren, in the International GT Open Championship at the wheel of a Track Focused McLaren 720S EVO when his busy GTWC calendar allows.

From a very young age, James was passionate about cars and motorsport and whilst at Aberdeen University, found himself in a position to take this love on track for the first time.

A keen member and ultimately manager of the Universities Formula Student programme, James eventually became the head of Business for the team as well as driver.

Nowadays he is experienced in GT Cars, Sports Cars and Sports Prototypes and has developed a reputation as a valuable resource for set-up and engineering work in race cars as well as development work for manufacturers.

James was honoured and privileged to be invited to become a full member of the British Racing Drivers Club “BRDC” in 2023.
